Editorial Policy
Independence
Our editors decide what to cover and how to rank it. Vendors cannot buy scores, rankings in our best-of lists or editorial verdicts. Vendors can pay for a guaranteed, faster review and clearly labeled sponsored slots in the directory; those slots are always marked Sponsored and never change a score. We may earn affiliate commissions, but whether a tool has an affiliate program has no bearing on its score. Several of our top-ranked tools have no affiliate program at all.
Sourcing
We rely on primary sources first: official pricing pages, help-center documentation, release notes, changelogs, security and compliance pages, and terms of service. When a vendor’s pricing page cannot be read directly, we cross-check figures against multiple recent independent sources and mark those prices in our tracker with an asterisk so readers know to confirm them.
Honesty about testing
We never claim hands-on testing unless it happened, and when it does, the article says exactly what was tested and how. We do not publish invented benchmarks, fabricated user quotes, fake screenshots or ratings without a method. Visuals on this site are original illustrations, not product screenshots.
Scores
Scores follow the rubric on our How We Review page. Each tool’s sub-scores and overall score are stored in one place and shown identically on every page, so a tool can’t score 9 in one article and 7 in another.
Freshness and corrections
Every article shows a “last verified” date. We re-check prices on a rolling basis and when vendors announce changes. If we get something wrong, we fix it promptly and, where the error affected a recommendation, add a correction note. Report errors via our contact page.
AI assistance
We use AI tools in our workflow for research organization and drafting support, as you’d expect from a publication about AI tools. A named editor checks every fact, price and claim against primary sources before publication and is accountable for the final article.
